An independently owned company, MBMG was formed in 2006 by the amalgamation of two respected produce companies – MBM Produce Ltd and FW Gedney.

Formed over 30 years ago, MBM was the result of the joining of three potato trading companies – Beesons Group, Guy Morton & Sons and Rowe, Manchett & Till - and has over the years become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of potatoes and seed potatoes.

FW Gedney was formed in 1956 to sell the produce that was produced by the Gedney family farm and remained a family business until it was bought by MBM in 2005. Specialising in fresh produce, FW Gedney supplies a full range of fresh vegetables, fruit and salads.

The amalgamation of the two companies created exciting growth opportunities for both businesses. Today MBMG employs over 500 people across the UK. Overseas it operates through subsidiary companies and joint venture arrangements.

With it’s head office in Cambridgeshire and other offices located throughout the UK, MBMG serves all sectors of the industry including retailers, processors, wholesalers, caterers, large foodservice operatives and the export market with a wide range of fresh vegetables, fruit and salads and over 600,000 tonnes of potatoes.

With one of the UK’s largest and most experienced team of seed, agronomy, technical and marketing specialists MBMG provides a fully integrated and comprehensive service to all sectors of the supply chain.

Ian Carr and Malcolm Shierson, of Grant Thornton UK LLP were appointed joint administrators of MBM Produce Limited (trading as MBMG) and Monument (GB) Limited on 10 July 2009.

Trading activities are continuing and are being managed by the administrators' staff in both Holbeach (01406 426118) and Bicker (01775 820626).
